Great Bear Rainforest
The Great Bear Rainforest, which runs along British Columbia's west coastline, is known as the largest stretch of temperate coastal rainforest in the world. By square footage it is twice as large as the Serengeti and is home to Canada's most iconic wildlife: brown bears and black bears live side by side, coastal wolves hunt for herring and salmon, and humpback, killer and grey whales can be spotted all around during the summertime.

Most of this densely-forested habitat is occupied by brown bears. They spend a lot of their time on their own midsummer, but June and September are peak times of activity in these bears' lives: June sees male bears vying for females' attention, whereas September brings about the hustle and bustle of an autumnal salmon run.
